Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Come Thou long Expected Jesus. Introduction, Performance and explanation of Right and Left hand. C&M too!

A good example of a standard melody upon which many lyrics have been written. Here are a few of them: "Jesus, What a Friend for Sinners" "Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!" "Earth was Given as a Garden" "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" "Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken" And there are others. It's also a great chord exercise in the key of C. There is a good bit of repetition in the melody, and the chords generally stay in the first three frets.

There are two lessons on this video.  We want you to listen to and then play a "Melody only", phrase by phrase, version of the song, so you hear the beauty of the melody.  Then, similarly we want you to listen to and then play through a "Chords only" version where you can strum the strings, or in the spirit of fingerstyle traditions, begin to use your right hand thumb and fingers to play block chords.  Good exercises for any player.…’specially the listening part.
