Star Spangled Banner

Our national anthem. In the key of G, I attempted to recreate the musical impressions I heard as Navy bands played the anthem throughout my time in the service. I heard it loud and clear at every formal ceremony and many less formal, but it always had the same effect on me. I wanted to be able to play it on the guitar, so I could enjoy its lyrics and music anytime I wanted to play it. It may be the most challenging arrangement on the website.

No Chords and Melody version.  I believe many national anthems and historic hymns are not appropriate for simplification musically, where they lose the power of their melodies and chords, and the amazing emotional power of their performance.  See them as a goal to be reached as you increase your playing skills. Then play them carefully.
